Style and form of sequence- genre and mood
British
neutral mood- expected of teens, uninterested by their current lives
both have their own focuses- Vivian her friends and Louis skate
drama- emphasis on the fateful meeting- leaving the viewer on the edge
racial contrasting- white vs black- stereotypes clear but also opposed
Lighting on set- editing style and sfx
we will start filming early in the day in order to both ensure pedestrian flow is as low as possible and also so that we can utilize the short-lasting daylight at this time of year, and ensure for continuity reasons that the lighting is not lost as filming progresses, preventing the need for extra lighting equipment and avoiding the risk of running out of shoot time.
Titles/credits - style and placement
After viewing similar openings of both British dramas, romance dramas and other similar romance based films, we decided that we should employ the common structure of first introducing the producers and distributors, then proceeding with the opening, and during the two minutes introduced the actors and directors using animated graphic text to pop up when the actors are on screen. We decided to keep our titles simplistic and calm to prevent detraction from the actual film, and decided that the most appropriate font would be courier new, in a consistent white colourway to keep to the urban, simplistic style.
Planned music and sound effects
-our plan is to keep the film opening as gritty and realistic as possible, to reflect the london setting
-therefore we have decide that all sound should be kept natural, emphasising specific ambient sounds such as the sound of the skateboard moving and also the female’s conversation
-however, we decided that we will also include a soundtrack to introduce the mood
-this music will be again simplistic, urban and also upbeat to match with the moderately fast-flowing narrative
- Overall It should sound quite similar to the following clip which has ambient sounds of the playground with a consistent background track which lowers during conversation:
